What I mean is, from which relatively popular artists do you really only like one song?
Example:
Julian Casablancas has built a pretty good following with The Strokes and his solo work, yet the only song of his that I like is 11th Dimension.

Will likely be an unpopular opinion, but Gun’s n Roses is mine. “Sweet Child of Mine” is far and away one of my favorite songs. I think it’s one of the Top 10 greatest rock singles of all time.
But I can’t stand anything else by them. Nothing. I cringe when I hear Axls voice if it’s not preceded by the guitar riff in ‘Sweet Child’.

Although “Penny and Me” was a nice ballad, nothing beats the song about onomatopoeias!

I cant stand that song just because of how overplayed it is. But Paradise City is actually pretty good! Haha if you want some REALLY terrible Guns n’ Roses, check out their album Chinese Democracy.

I forget what the name of the band is, but this rock band does a really good cover of Smooth Criminal. I don’t like any of their other songs but since MJ made a pretty damn good song, the cover is good too!
Edit: I think it was Alien Ant Farm?

GTA San Andreas got me so hooked on “Runnin Down the Dream” though! I don’t really like any other tom Petty songs but anytime I hear that one I just think of flying a Hunter (apache helicopter) around the desert and destroying everything in sight.

yeah, i know. he has a catalog of hits a mile deep, BUT those hits are played out. they get played at least once a day on the classic rock stations.
good to be king? never hear it played anywhere......... i like it better JUST for that.

Level 42. I bought it for “Something About You”, but couldn’t get into any of the other songs on the album, and that’s kinda unusual. It happened again with Deep Blue Something when I bought their album for “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”. Everything else on the album was pretty much bar scene gig quality.

Oh yeah I hear you on that! I don’t ever listen to the radio so I at least can still enjoy some of the overplayed crap when I get it on shuffle once in a while. Even pop/r&b stuff that I am really not into can be okay as long as I haven’t heard it 45 other times that week. I was doing valet parking when that Iggy Azaelea song with the LA to Tokyo thing came out. I cannot get that shit out of my head because of how annoying it got. 5 or 6 different stations would all be playing it at the same time!! It took so long to find the power button to just turn the damn thing off lol.

I think you got it a little backwards...they genuinely were a one-hit wonder (and that song was great). OP is talking about popular, multi-hit bands where you only liked one song.

Fleetwood Mac: Landslide. Otherwise I really can’t stand almost anything they've ever done. I admire and recognize the talent. I just don't like it.

Haha well I didn’t realize whether or not that band was any good. I generally don’t have the same music tastes as 90% of the people I have found out there. So I figured maybe they are well liked since I don’t like them much.

A safe assumption. I bet if they came out today, they'd have several multiplatinum albums because the marketing machine is relentless.

Luke Bryan, Drink a Beer. Yeah it’s a little cheesy, but it’s about his brother and sister who passed away and you can hear that genuineness in the song, it’s coming from the heart, not a thesaurus of hit phrases for country songs. Everything else he sings is garbage IMO.

i was never very good with musical instruments, and never got good at playing the radio.......... i just pull them from my cars/ trucks, because the truck is so loud i cant hear it anyhow.

You might like the early stuff when they were pretty much a completely different band.

I’ve never been a Van Halen fan, but I think Dance The Night Away is completely awesome.

Back in the mists of time when people still bought music on physical media, I remember buying the first Godsmack album on the strength of ‘Voodoo’, which was getting heavy airplay at the time, only to discover, lol surprise, none of their other songs on the album sound like that.
I mean, the rest of it wasn’t awful, but, not really what I was hoping for.

I really liked Alien Ant Farm when I was younger. I used to listen to their two albums all the way through. But yeah, I never thought of them as a “popular” band.
